Between the Desert and the Ocean

Life carried me from the Thar Desert of Rajasthan to the Atlantic Ocean of Spain.
From the silence of sand dunes in Jaisalmer to the rainy shores of Ferrol.
Sometimes, I sit beside the ocean and wonder how this journey unfolded.
The desert was my first teacher. The ocean became the second.
One taught me silence. The other taught me surrender.
The Desert's Wisdom
I grew up in Rajasthan, where the heat, the empty landscapes, and the endless skies invite introspection. The desert has a way of removing distractions. It teaches patience, simplicity, and how to be alone without feeling lonely.
As a child, I often sensed there was something more to life than merely following the usual path. I could not articulate it then, but a quiet search had already begun within me. At night, under the stars of Jaisalmer, I felt close to something sacred. Perhaps that is where meditation truly began for me. Not as a technique, but as a feeling.
The Ocean's Embrace
Years later, life brought me to the north of Spain. Everything changed here. In Rajasthan, the earth was dry and warm. In Ferrol, the rain falls endlessly, and the ocean is always moving. At first, I felt like a desert man lost beside the sea. But slowly, the ocean began to teach me.
It taught me trust. Flow. Letting go.
Somewhere between the desert and the ocean, spirituality became very simple for me. Not something distant. Not something serious. Just being present. Walking slowly. Sharing tea. Listening deeply. Watching rain touch the window. Sitting silently beside the sea. These ordinary moments became prayer.
The Journey of Learning
People sometimes ask me what I teach. Honestly, I feel I am still learning every day. I simply share what life continues to show me: We suffer when we feel separate. Separate from nature. Separate from each other. Separate from ourselves.
But existence keeps reminding us that we belong. That is why the image of the wave and the ocean touches me so deeply. The wave suffers because it believes it is separate. But the moment it relaxes, it discovers it was never apart from the sea. Maybe we are like that too.
Today, I continue sharing this journey through meditation, retreats, sacred travel, silence, stories, and human connection. Not as a guru, but as a fellow traveller still learning from life.
The Dance of Desert and Ocean
Even now, I still feel both the desert and the ocean living inside me. One gave me longing. The other gave me trust. And both continue leading me home.
The wave said, “I surrender.”
The ocean replied, “You were never apart.”
